AI Album Cover Generator
Cover art gets seen in three places at wildly different sizes: a full-screen now-playing view, a grid of album squares, and a tiny thumbnail in a playlist row. The covers that work across all three commit to one strong idea, one dominant color, and a composition that stays legible when it collapses to a smudge.
Genre conventions are real and worth leaning on. Ambient and shoegaze reach for washed-out photography and heavy grain. Hip hop reaches for high-contrast portraiture and hard type. Metal reaches for detailed, dark illustration. Naming the genre alongside the imagery gets you into the right visual neighbourhood immediately.

How to get better results
- Say "square composition". Streaming platforms crop to 1:1 and a wide image loses its subject.
- Name the genre. It carries an entire visual tradition with it and saves you describing the palette and treatment separately.
- Leave the title and artist name off the generated image and set them in real type afterwards.
- Check it small. Shrink the image to 100 pixels and see whether the idea still lands; that is how most listeners will first see it.
Best for
- Single and album releases
- Spotify and Apple Music artwork
- Playlist and podcast covers
- Bandcamp and SoundCloud uploads
Recommended model
Kandinsky's saturated, painterly output suits cover art, where mood matters far more than photographic accuracy.
Frequently asked questions
- What size does Spotify require for cover art?
- Spotify wants a square JPEG of at least 640x640, and most distributors ask for 3000x3000. Generate square on Dreamify and upscale the result to meet your distributor's minimum.
- Should I add the album title in the prompt?
- No. Diffusion models garble lettering. Generate clean artwork and add the title and artist name in a design tool where you control the typeface and spacing.
- Can I use this for a commercial release?
- Yes, images you generate are yours to use commercially. Avoid prompts that ask for a specific living artist's style or a recognisable existing album cover.
