An app icon is the smallest, most competitive piece of branding you will ever design. It sits on a home screen next to fifty others at roughly 60 points, gets rounded off at the corners, and has to be identifiable in peripheral vision. Every successful icon is a single shape, one or two colors, and generous padding.
The failure mode is detail. Anything with a scene, a gradient mesh, or more than two ideas turns into a coloured blur at real size. Prompt for one glyph, centered, on a solid or simple gradient ground, and keep the subject well inside the frame so the corner rounding does not clip it.

- What sizes do I need for an app icon?
- iOS wants a 1024x1024 master and generates the rest. Android wants a 512x512 Play Store icon plus adaptive foreground and background layers. Generate square at maximum resolution and export the sizes from there.
- Should I add rounded corners?
- No. Both platforms apply their own corner masking. Submit a full square and keep the important shape away from the corners so nothing gets cut.
- Can I get a transparent background?
